Training Times

Octopush training times

Club Training
We currently have sports centre pool three times a week:
  • Tuesday: 18.15-20.00
This session is dedicated to fitness and puck skills, open to all members of the club.

  • Thursday: 21.00-22.00
This will be a much more game-centric session, with some warmup/skills for only the first 20 or so minutes. This enables us to get the maximum amount of game time possible.
Additionally, some weeks (if the divers are in the deep end) you can come an hour early to practise your flicking/puck control- be sure to check with both the Training Officer and the Octopush Officer before doing this.

  • Sunday: 18:00-20.00
As we have the whole pool for the entirety, this session will have a lot more fitness/exercises, and additionally will often feature games that are not entirely fluid- they will be broken up in order to practise specific techniques, positioning, and understanding the rules of the game such as free pucks and penalties!
Rock Up and Play!

We are delighted to welcome anyone and everyone to the Rock Up and Play sessions on Sundays 17.00-18.00, during term time!

This session is free for ALL members of the University of Warwick - staff and students alike.

This session is dedicated to welcoming new players to the sport - so come try it out! Activators will be at hand to show you all you need to know, and equipment will be provided (best to bring an old pair of socks if you need to borrow fins). Just meet us poolside 10 minutes before the session.

Booking is recommended, which you can find through here:
https://warwick.ac.uk/services/sport/active/rock-up-and-play/?start=300919&view=weekly

However, you can just 'rock up' and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

External Octopush Sessions

Many of us also attend Coventry Octopush Sessions, not affiliated with the university but a fantastic way to improve at the sport:
  • Monday: 21.30-22.30
Sessions cost £5 an entry for students - in addition, transport there is generally via the X17 (from Leamington) or the 11 (from Campus). Ask anyone who you know is going, as generally you can easily find someone to travel with. Join the Coventry Triads Octopush club Facebook group here or find more information on their site here.

Other external octopush sessions attended by our members include:
  • Dunstable - Thursdays 20.45-22.00 (advanced)
  • Dunstable - Sundays 19.00-22.00
  • Nottingham - Wednesdays 21.00-22.00

If you want more information on these, please drop us a message on Facebook or ask someone at the next training session!

Other training

Some members of the club go for regular swims throughout the week- if you want to swim, but feel like it would be better with someone to talk to during breaks and like the motivation of a group, feel free to contact the Octopush Officer or post on the Facebook page to see when people are around and free.

These sessions will generally be without fins (to improve general fitness) but may involve fin work too.

Sound interesting?

Feel free to come along to any of our pool sessions, or drop us a message on our Facebook Page: Warwick University Sub Aqua Club. Hope to see you soon!
