Meet the 2018/19 Exec!
Meet our exec line-up for this year.
President - Megan Jenkins
Megan is our President- if she says jump, we ALL jump! Not only does she stand as the figurehead of the club, but she also represents the club in all SU matters, and is the Chairman to both BSAC and BOA.
"Hi there! My name is Megan and I will be your President for the upcoming year. Whether you are a new or returning student, I am delighted to welcome you to Warwick and introduce you to the world of Aquatic Sports. Our club has something for everyone, whether that be playing in adrenaline-pumping Underwater Hockey Tournaments or taking a dive on one of our amazing Scuba-Diving trips. With the help of my amazing Exec, I am looking forward to making your time with us an unforgettable one."
Diving Officer - Nigel Denton
Nigel is in charge of diving at WUSAC- working closely with other instructors and both the Training and Equipment officers , he oversees the work that these exec members carry out alongside organising diving trips throughout the year.
Nigel: "Nigel joined the club when he was a Masters student back in 1998 and has lived and worked locally ever since; after a spell as a Lecturer at Coventry University, he is now the Director of Student Experience to the School of Engineering and a Senior Teaching Fellow at WMG where one of his recent activities is Tutor for the University Human Powered Submarine Team. Nigel is renowned for his ability to drink gallons of tea during dive trips."
Push Officer - Matthew Johnson
Matt is both the Captain and the 'Push Officer' of the WUSAC Warriors Octopush team- this requires him to run sessions, organise attendance of external tournaments and much more besides!
Matt: "Hi! I started playing push in my first year here, and I have fallen in love with the sport and am determined to get as many people to try it as possible! II have always loved sport, and octopush is completely unique. I have not found a sport to be so challenging and also rewarding, and would encourage anyone who hasn't tried it to give it a go!"
Secretary - Beth McCartney
Beth, being Secretary, manages correspondence with BSAC, be that renewing membership or sorting out new members, alongside making exec meeting notes and dealing with all the paperwork that the SU throws at us.
Beth: "Hello! As secretary, I’m responsible for the general club organisation, SU paperwork and getting BSAC memberships for people to either learn to dive or to further their qualifications.
I’ve been diving since I was 10 years old and I started playing push in my first term of Warwick. I’m really excited to be on the exec for 2017/2018 with a bunch of amazing people, and I’m looking forward to being more involved in both sides of the club and improving my push and scuba diving skills"
Treasurer - Anjana Radhakrishnan
Anjana looks after WUSAC's financial aspect- any decision money related goes through her at least twice, and she reliably keeps WUSAC out of all monetary woes!
Anjana:" Hi, I'm a first year PhD student at Life Sciences, having just completed my integrated masters at Warwick too. I've been playing underwater hockey with WUSAC for over a year now, and I am pleased to have the chance to help the club further as Treasurer. I'm very enthusiastic about the development of the club and its members, and I'd like to make sure everyone who would like to participate and have an input, gets to do so!"
Social Secretary - Lara Nash
Lara is the social sec, the one position that outranks the President... only at circle that is! If she isn't telling you to consume at Pop!, she will be reliably organising the next social outing for you to go on!!!
Lara: "Hey! I'm Lara, and I'm a second year PPE student and a member of the push team in WUSAC. As the club's social sec, I'm around to organise events to keep us entertained together outside of training times. We have nights out and POP circling, as well as sober events like club meals and bowling, so there should be something for everyone to join in on. See ya!"
Webmaster - Hemal Dias
Hemal is the club's Webmaster, so most of what you see here is maintained by him! Whether this is adding more content to the site, editing promotional content, making cool videos or updating past pages to the new era Hemal IS the man.
Hemal: "Roses are red, violets are blue, WUSAC need a website, and I code.
Hi! My name is Hemal and I'm a third year engineer. I've had a lot of fun playing Push in my first year, and I plan to try some diving next year. I'm really excited to be part of the current Exec, and I look forward to keep this website updated with all the cool things we'll be doing this year! "
Training Officer - Tom Frampton
Tom is in charge of the Scuba training that goes on in the club. Whether you are a new Ocean Diver, or a seasoned veteran looking to finish up Dive Leader Tom is looking after you!
Tom: "I'm Tom, and I'll be you're WUSAC Training Officer this year. I'm keen to work with new and existing members to draw in new faces who wish to learn to dive. I hope I can instil in you the great fun that can be had from learning to SCUBA Dive, and help you develop your skills further, if you are already a qualified diver!"
Kit Secretary/ Diving Expeditions Officer - Das Moore
Diving comes with a LOT of specialised equipment, and Jack has the job of looking after and maintaining it all! Whether getting kit ready for trips, or making sure things are serviced/unbroken Jack is on the case.
Das: "Hey! I’m Das, an Engineering student and your Equipment Officer for the coming year. I joined WUSAC and began diving during my first term at Warwick and I feel I would really be lost without it – which is why I joined the exec team, so I could give back to the society and help to support the people that had introduced me to this new and exciting sport. WUSAC is an awesome club to be involved with, where you’ll meet many wonderful people and make great friends – I hope you’ll join us if you haven’t already and I look forward to meeting you! "
Push Expeditions Officer - Tom Ward
After all the push training, we need somewhere to show off. Tom will be in charge or organising competitions for the push side of the club.
Tom: "I’m a second-year Chemistry student and the first person to take on this role! I've been playing push and competing since first year and am looking forward to help organise plenty of competitions this year. "
